The secret heroes of the housing estate

Hardly anyone knows better what goes on behind Germany’s front doors than the janitors. They are on the spot when it comes to burst pipes, faulty heating systems, piles of garbage or fallen trees in the front garden. In the new series “The janitors”, we follow four janitors and their teams from Bad Bramstedt in the north to Munich in the south.

The camera goes with them down into the cellar, up onto the roof and into the apartment: always close to the action and to the people. The secret heroes of the residential complex have a tough, varied but also fulfilling job. A conscientious tradesman can sometimes turn into a strict law enforcer or an empathetic psychologist.
